Carbon County Weed and Mosquito Department is a public agency serving the residents and communities of Carbon County. Our mosquito mission is to enhance public health and quality of life through the suppression of mosquitoes and mosquito-transmitted diseases. We monitor adult mosquito populations and conduct larval surveillance and inspections and use safe, EPA approved pesticides when needed.
Noxious Weeds are the largest environmental concern to Utah. Infestations of noxious weeds crowd out native vegetation, increase erosion, use precious water, and decrease the forage production that is used by domestic and wild animals. Noxious weeds are not just an agricultural problem. They also adversely affect wildlife habitat, visual quality, recreation opportunities, and land value. They are everyone’s problem.
The Carbon County Weed Department is responsible for the control of noxious weeds as identified by the State of Utah on county roadways and public lands. They do not spray on private property, that is the responsibility of the property owner.
