The Lady and the Lion/Chicken Ella Auditions

Auditions will be held April 19 and April 20 at 4:00 pm at 120 Hillcrest Drive in Price. We are hoping that the weather will be nice enough that we can have auditions outside. It might not hurt to bring a camp chair or a picnic blanket for sitting on.

We will be doing two shows this year. The Lady and the Lion will be performed by our junior cast and Chicken Ella will be performed by our senior cast. They will both be musicals. We have not decided on the age cut-off for each show and will not be deciding on it until after auditions have concluded. Keep in mind, our shows are directed towards ages 7-14. Older teens are absolutely welcome, but we want to be upfront about the ages that we are targeting. Please be aware that those auditioning for the first time are unlikely to receive a lead role.

This year, we are offering two opportunities for those auditioning. We will have a limited number of speaking roles this year. Because of this, we will also be offering an opportunity for all actors not receiving a speaking role to be a member of the chorus. Chorus members will attend less rehearsals. If your actor cannot make it to all dress rehearsals and performances (listed below), they can only be a member of the chorus.

If your actor would like a speaking role, please have them come prepared with an audition piece. If your actor is interested in a chorus part, there is no need for a prepared piece unless they wish to. Please limit audition pieces to 2 minutes. If your actor would like a solo singing part, please come prepared with a song.

We ask that you really try to make one of the scheduled auditions. If for some reason you are unable to attend either date, please contact us so that we can arrange a private audition prior to these dates. We will not be casting speaking roles after April 20, so if your actor would like to try out for a speaking part and can’t make auditions, please contact us before this date.

Practices this year will be on Mondays and Tuesdays starting on June 5 (except for the week of the 4th of July when practice will be only Monday) at 120 Hillcrest Drive in Price. Practice times will be from 9 am-12 pm. We understand that there may be family vacations, girl’s and boy’s camps, etc., and we are willing to work around these to some extent but do expect all actors to attend the majority of rehearsals.

The performances will be on July 21, July 22, July 24, and July 25. Performances will be held in the Price Civic Auditorium. Dress rehearsal will be July 10, 11, 12, 14, 17, 18, 19 with our cast party on Thursday July 20.

This year, the cost for participation is as follows:

$100 tuition per actor plus $35 for costume fee
$50 tuition for chorus members plus $35 costume fee

Families who enroll more than one child in either production will receive a discount of $10 off tuition per child.
